Top 10 Figma Plugins

Top 10 Figma Plugins

These are the 10 best Figma plugins that I think every designer needs to be using in their daily design workflow.

#01 Unsplash

We’re huge fans of Figma at Unsplash. Earlier this year, our team migrated over to Figma from Sketch for most of our designing needs — and we haven’t looked back since. We’re happy to say it has simplified our workflow, helped us collaborate between teams, and just generally made sense for us.

Truth be told, while our love for Figma is unconditional, we did miss a few things about our ex. The ability to easily fill our canvas with beautiful images from Unsplash was one of them. As a result, we’d end up with mockups that looked liked like so:

We do try to work with real data as much as possible. In our case, real data consists of actual images from Unsplash. So we know the frustration of having to manually download and insert images into Figma.

While our need is very specific, turns out we weren’t alone…

#02 Paddet Figma Plugin

Paddet is a small tool that will help you automatically apply padding to frames. A few options will also be available to you to optimize how Paddet updates your paddings. The last used settings are saved for each frame so you can easily let paddy automatically update your paddings on the fly without having to check your settings again.

#03 Figma Charts

Figma charts library made of components. Contains most common data visualization patterns from simple bar charts to complicated heat-maps and financial candlesticks. Fits for dashboards, presentations, visualizations, or any other type of data-design project.

#04 Lorem Ipsum

Generate ‘Lorem ipsum’ to fill your text layers with dummy text.

Select all the text layers you want to generate ‘Lorem ipsum’ for then click ‘Generate’ — it will generate for each layer uniquely.

‘Auto-generate’ will automatically fill the selected layers with the perfectly amount of ‘Lorem ipsum’ to fit their existing frame.

#05 Lorem Ipsum

It’s stupid simple, and yes you absolutely needs this!
Let’s be honest we’ve all at least once tried to skew things up a notch... and admit it, whatever hack you tried was just a dirty hack. Well now you can just say SkewDat!

#06 Isometric

With Easometric it is really easy to create isometric layers.
This plugin using SSR30°, which is the most popular and flexible method of creating isometric artworks.
Simple as that you can either quick apply a top, left or right perspective or using the modal.

#07 Reverse Layer Order

When a group of layers has auto layout, the order of the layers in in the layer list is the reverse of how it appears in the canvas.
I would expect moving a layer down in the layer list would cause the layer to move down in the canvas, and vice versa. Having to move a layer down, so that it will move up is confusing. I've attached a screen illustrating the disconnect.

#08 Rename It

Sequentially rename layers in either ascending or descending order.

#09 Blobs

Create organic blob shapes with the click of a button. Every shape that is generated is unique to the last. You can control how unique a shape is along with how many points it has. Shapes are created using SVG, so you get those oh-so-sweet bézier curves.

#10 Time Machine

This plugin automatically copies the version you want to save to another page called “Time Machine” and name the frame with a date it was saved. No need to do it manually anymore.
